My previous post showed a dog welcoming home her master... well below is a video of two wiener dogs welcoming home their master; a sailor home after 8 months in Kuwait. Turns out Mental_floss put together an excellent post on 10 November showing several of these 'welcome home' movie. Watch the one below, then head over to Mental_floss, but you sensitive types may want to grab a box of tissues on your way...
My wife introduced me to the "joys" of having a wiener dog shortly after we got married when we got a red smooth mini. Fenway passed away in the fall of 2007. It really was like losing a member of the family, because she was. This past spring we got another dachshund. Another female red mini, but Liberty (Libby) is a long hair. She's starting to look like an Irish Setter sawed off at the legs.
Apparently owners of dogs with wiry coats must "strip" their dogs' coats. It's a little scary to me that the best time to do this is when the coat is "blowing"... shedding to other dogs.
So here's a wirehaired wiener dog getting stripped... note the 'helpful' smooth haired wiener dog.
Tonight we are watching the tape-delayed Opening Ceremonies for the 2008 Olympics. I haven't noticed if the diver featured in this video is among them!
I often comment around the blogosphere under the self-important moniker "darkpixel".
Now I have my own blog to call home, and I get to kibitz on my brother's blog.
Is this a great country, or what?
